Day 9: My Beliefs

I Know that God lives.
That He is my Father, and that he sent his Son Jesus Christ to atone for me.
I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, called by God to establish the restored Gospel of Christ in its fullness back to the earth.
I know that by the authority of God-or the Priesthood power, my family is forever.
I know that as we make and keep sacred covenants and obey the teachings of Jesus Christ
 we are happier -
--despite whatever obstacles or challenges or trials we may face.
I know that though I'm entering an uncertain and scary time in my life,
I can count on my Heavenly Father to comfort and guide me.
I know that even though me and Travis will be
broke, homeless, and insurance-less,
we will be taken care of if we honor the covenants we make with God.

A Quote:
"I know in whom I trust;
I stand upon the rock;
The Floods cannont, no-
They Shall not overthrow me."
-Joseph Smith

And a Poem:

"My Life is but a weaving between my God and me
I cannot see the colors-he worketh steadily
Oft Times he weaveth Sorrow and I in foolish pride
Forget that he seeing the upper, and I the underside
Not till the loom is silenced and the shuttles cease to fly
Shall God unroll the Canvas and explain the reason why
The dark threads are as needful in the weavers skillful hand
As the threads of Gold and Silver in the pattern he has planned

If your curious:

First, Here's the Articles of Faith.
I believe these are the most simply stated but inclusive statements of my beliefs.

The Articles of Faith
The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
  1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
  2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
  3. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
  4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
  5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
  6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
  7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
  8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
  9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
  10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
  11. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
  12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
  13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Hay, I like what you said about it being kind of scarey - about being broke, homeless and without insurance. Well, I didn't like it, but I can relate haha. A lot of people think before you get married or have a kid you need everything financial or whatever taken care of, having all your ducks lined up in a row, not to just jump out there not knowing what you're getting in to. But I have a strong testimony that everything is alright. Like you said, if you honor your covenants with God and keep the commandments, the little things that seem scarey, and the trials you go through, don't really seem that big after all. You always get through it and and you are ALWAYS taken care of. I've seen that time and time again. If you do everything you can spiritually, the Lord WILL bless you temporally (and spiritually, of course too) :)
I've gotten a lot of negative comments about the decisions of marriage and children and the choices I've made, and no doubt it's a lot of work, but it is so worth it!
